It lies at the foot of the Marmolada, the highest peak in the Dolomites, and at the entrance to the extraordinary Serrai di Sottoguda Natural Park, between the Fodom-Arabba and Fassa valleys and Alleghe Lake.

Thanks to the exceptional state of conservation of the rural architecture in the village, with its many tabièi (hay barns) built entirely by hand and dating back over a hundred years, the unspoiled natural environment and the ancient tradition of artistic wrought iron, in November 2016 Sottoguda was awarded the title of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, “I Borghi più belli d’Italia”.
This well-known club, founded in 2001, seeks out small towns off the tourist track with great heritage, and grants them this accolade to help preserve their extraordinary landscape, architecture and cultural value. Come and visit us!
